What Affects Kitchen Cabinet Cost in the GTA?

Two kitchens of the same size can differ a lot in price — and it's rarely about one big thing. Here's what actually moves the number, so you can budget realistically before you get a quote.

A clear 3D design up front prevents costly mid-project changes. Knowing what drives the number means you can pick where to spend and where to save without surprises.

The main cost drivers

  • Kitchen size and layout — more linear feet of cabinetry and more complex layouts (islands, peninsulas, tall pantries) cost more.
  • Construction level — stock and semi-custom are more affordable; fully custom (built to your exact dimensions and specs) sits at the top.
  • Door style and finish — painted and lacquer finishes cost more than melamine or thermofoil; intricate door styles add labour.
  • Box material — solid plywood boxes cost more than particleboard or MDF but hold up better long-term.
  • Hardware and accessories — soft-close is standard with us, but pull-out organizers, lazy Susans, cutlery dividers and waste pull-outs add up.
  • Countertop and backsplash — chosen alongside cabinets; material choice affects the total project.
  • Removal, disposal and install complexity — tearing out an old kitchen, plumbing or electrical moves and uneven walls all factor in.

How to control the budget

Spend on the doors and finishes you see every day, choose smart accessories rather than every option, and keep the existing layout where possible to avoid plumbing and electrical relocation. A clear 3D design up front prevents costly mid-project changes — we include 3D planning with every quote.
