How to choose a colour you'll still love in ten years

Start from the cabinets, not the countertop. Warm white and cream doors pair best with soft, warm-veined stone; grey and true-white doors can take the cooler Carrara and Calacatta looks. A rule of thumb from our design work: classic shaker kitchens suit gentle veining, while slim-shaker and modern slab doors can carry bolder marble looks — or a completely plain surface — without the room feeling busy. Then decide how much movement you want. Plain and finely-speckled colours are forgiving in a busy family kitchen and keep a small space calm. The tiers are prices, not quality grades

The swatch groups match the four tiers we price by — Essential at $78, Designer at $92, Premium at $118 and Dekton at $145 per square foot installed — so while you compare looks you're also comparing budgets. A higher tier buys a particular brand or a more complex pattern, not a better job: every colour here is cut in our own Newmarket shop and installed by the same crew. One honest caveat: screens flatten stone.
